01 — About

Your kid plays three sports.
Who's training the other two?

Every performance gym in Central Illinois trains baseball. The Lab trains athletes. If your kid plays hoops, runs lanes, sets a net, or picks up a stick in the spring — they need a program built around them, not one sport.

Every athlete here starts with a movement screen and a baseline number — 40-yard, vertical, broad jump, overhead squat. Every six weeks we re-test. You see the number. Your kid sees the number. Nobody argues about whether the work is working.

No medals for showing up. A program, a coach, a standard — and a printed report card every phase. The rest is on the athlete.

02 — Programs

Five sports. One standard.

The base — strength, speed, plyometrics — is universal. The finish — sport skill, energy system, injury focus — is specific to each sport. Every performance gym in Central Illinois trains baseball. We train athletes.

07 — FAQ

Straight answers.

My daughter plays volleyball AND runs track — can she train here?

Yes. Multi-sport athletes are the reason The Lab exists. We build a base that serves both — plyometrics and approach jump for volleyball, top-end speed for track — and pull back or push forward based on which sport is in-season.

My kid already trains with K's Academy for baseball — is this a conflict?

No, and we'll never ask you to choose. K's owns baseball skill work in Bloomington and they're great at it. We handle off-season performance and the other sports your kid plays. In-season baseball-only athletes stay at K's; we pick up the engine work.

How old does my kid need to be?

We train athletes roughly 10 through college. Middle school is where the movement foundation is built; high school is where the engine gets programmed; college-prep athletes are coached toward combine numbers and sport-specific benchmarks.

Is there an assessment first?

Yes. Every athlete starts with a free 30-minute movement screen and goal conversation. Nobody's turned away for being "not athletic enough" — but we program from what we see that day.

My kid is coming back from injury. Can they still train?

If they've been cleared to train by their physician or athletic trainer, yes — and we'll coordinate with that provider on load and progression. If they haven't been cleared, we'll wait with you until they are. We don't train through injury.

My kid is a current NCAA athlete (ISU / IWU / elsewhere). Can they train here?

Carefully. Under NCAA Bylaw 16, we can't offer free or discounted training, comp'd sessions, or athlete-specific packages — that's an extra-benefit issue and could jeopardize eligibility. They can purchase the same publicly posted services any community member can. Most current NCAA athletes should work with their program's S&C staff first and reach out for full-pay private work in their true off-season.

Can we freeze in-season? What about refunds?

Yes and yes. No long-term contracts. Freeze your membership for any in-season stretch, no penalty. Unused private sessions roll 60 days. Full policy in writing at signup.
